What is the minimum age requirement?

Climbers must be at least 8 years of age on the day of the event.

Do I have to take the stairs back down to street level?

No – you will take a well-deserved elevator ride after you conquer the tower. However, climbers are required to walk down approximately five flights of stairs to reach the resting floor where an elevator will be waiting to take you down to street level.

I can no longer attend the climb, can someone else use my bib?

Yes – when picking up your bib, the person replacing you will need to visit our registration tables to update the info associated with that bib.  

Will restrooms be available during the climb?

Yes – there are designated restroom locations in the stairwell. Please notify a water station volunteer if you need to use the restroom and they will escort you to these locations.

What happens if I am unable to finish?

If you feel you are unable to complete the climb, please notify a water station volunteer or ask another climber to do so. Our volunteers will contact an EMT to escort you out of the building via elevator.

My company wants to cover all or part of our employees’ fundraising minimums, how do I set that up?

Option 1 – Become an Event Sponsor – your company will receive marketing benefits and a specified number of registrations.

Option 2 – Sign A Covered Climbers Agreement – this agreement will transfer the required fundraising responsibility away from individual climbers and onto the person/organization who signs the form. Upon receiving the form, our staff will send a Discount Code for your climbers to use during registration. Contact stairclimb@ymcala.org or 213 639 7453 with any questions.

Option 3 – Donate To Already Registered Climbers –You can use our search function to find and make donations for individual climbers, or, you may send a check or call 213 639 7453 with credit card information. We are happy to split a donation between multiple climbers, but we’ll need your help - please indicate the exact amount that should be applied to each registered climber.

Can I register for my other team members?

No - each team member must view and agree to event waivers and the fundraising minimum in order to participate. For that reason, participants must personally register for the event. Please note that each team member must use a separate email as well.

What time will I climb?

A tentative event schedule is posted on this website. Climbers will receive an email confirming individual start times approximately 1 week before the event. A detailed schedule will also be posted online about 1 week before the event.

Can I request a specific start time?

We are typically unable to accommodate start time requests. Please plan to be available during the entire tentative time range for your registration category. A tentative event schedule is posted on this website to help you plan ahead.   

May I visit the roof of the US Bank Tower if I am not a participant?

No – you must be a Stair Climb for Los Angeles participant to visit the roof of the US Bank Tower. However, friends and family who want to meet you at the resting floor can click here to purchase full access tickets to OUE Skyspace LA including the Skyslide and technological attractions on the 2nd and 54th floors. Tickets are sold by the half-hour: we recommend that friends and family book tickets 30-60 minutes before your climb time, which will be officially assigned on Sept 15 and posted on our Event Schedule page. Currently, the event schedule page provides start time estimates based on your climb category.

If I am on a team, can I still rank as an individual?

Yes - if you are on a team, you will automatically be ranked as an individual in your age/gender category, and you will be eligible for a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place individual medal (YMCA staff will contact medal winners in the month following the event).

No – you must be a Stair Climb for Los Angeles participant to visit the roof of the US Bank Tower. However, you can watch live footage of the finish line from viewing stations located within the Block Party on Hope Street.
