"My daughter was falling behind in school because our wifi connection was so bad. She couldn’t understand or hear the teacher, and she would get ‘dropped’ from the class meeting. This was making her anxious and upset, and she was having emotional outbursts that she never had before. When we were finally able to get her to a YMCA learning hub, we saw an almost immediate change. She looked forward to going to ‘school’ and she was so happy to make new friends. She loved the games and gym time she got at the Y too. The Y has made it possible for us to get through this very strange period of our lives."

"I had no interest in politics before Teens & Government... It has empowered me as a leader, and now my main goal in life is to change the lives of others for the better. I would have never considered this a possibility if it wasn’t for the encouraging and inspiring atmosphere of my peers and advisors in T&G."
— Tatevik N., age 17
"We were part of the Y’s Adaptive Swim/special needs program, as two of our four children have severe autism. Our oldest daughter Geri helps dad with her siblings when not at school at Cal Poly Pomona. Dad Gerald, who was a bus driver for our children’s school district, is out of work right now. Mom Delia works as a nurse in the LA County Men’s prison where her hours have increased due to Covid-19. The shutdown really has strained the family. We are so thankful to get meals from the Y twice a week."
